Isabelle Antena-Easy Does It TWI1149CD
Isabelle Antena - Easy Does It [TWI 1149 CD]

Easy Does It is the eleventh solo album by Isabelle Antena, originally issued in 2005. Produced by Isabelle and Denis Moulin in the south of France, Easy Does It was her first pure bossa record, featuring nine new original songs as well as interpretations of classics by Henry Mancini and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

It remains one of her most popular albums. Says Isabelle: "The first song I recorded, The Boy From Ipanema, was a bossa track, and on every album since I have included a bossa number. I've always been very close to Latin music, maybe because I'm Mediterranean myself. The title of the album also describes my nature, and anyway I'm proud to create and listen to so-called 'easy listening' music. Having said that, some of the songs have also been missed by young DJs from around the world."

Bonus disc Issy Does It features eight pin-sharp remixes by luminaries such as Thievery Corporation, Buscemi, Nicola Conte, Yukihiro Fukutomi and La Malice.

Isabelle Antena - Hoping For Love [TWI 759 CD]

Hoping for Love is the second solo album by Isabelle Antena, originally issued by Les Disques du Crépuscule in March 1987.

After Camino Del Sol and En Cavale, Hoping for Love saw Isabelle Antena step left of the dancefloor, expanding her Latin, funk and samba palette to include jazz and acoustic styles. With the originally vinyl running order now restored, the first five tracks offer dance and synth pop tracks, while the second half of Hoping for Love is a suite arranged and produced by Isabelle herself, and featuring crack jazz musicians such as Danny Cordova and Johnny Hot. This new digital re-master features five bonus tracks, including 12" mixes by Marc Moulin (Telex) and Mark Kamins (Madonna). The artwork is by Hitoshi Tagata.

Isabelle Antena - En Cavale [TWI 610 CD]

En Cavale is the debut solo album by Isabelle Antena, originally issued by Les Disques du Crépuscule in April 1986.

Following the demise of chic French trio Antena, En Cavale ('on the run') marked Isabelle's transition from minimalist electro-samba to smooth pop sophistication. Largely produced by Martin Hayles (Rip It Up era Orange Juice) the album’s synth and dance-pop stylings embrace disco (Be Pop, Don’t Think About It), Latin jazz (Play Back) and cool ballads (Seaside Weekend, Ten Minutes). Little wonder, for at the time Antena cited Stan Getz, Astrud Gilberto and Sister Sledge as prime influences. This new digital re-master features seven bonus tracks, including b-sides and the 12" mixes of singles Be Pop and Life Is Too Short. The artwork is by Benoît Hennebert.

Penelope Queen - I'd Rather Be Naked
Penelope Queen - I'd Rather Be Naked

I'd Rather Be Naked (TWI 1152) is the debut album by Penelope Queen, a young French singer-songwriter, produced by cult pop polymath Isabelle Antena.

Written and recorded between 2010 and 2013, the album features 13 original songs by Penelope, together with a cover of Silly Things, the heartbreaking ballad originally recorded by Antena on Camino Del Sol, their debut for Crépuscule back in 1983. Also written in the south of France, Penelope's own new album captures many of the same moods, sometimes insouciant, sometimes bittersweet.

"Through my writing," says Penelope, "I try to tell about my life - as a young woman, a mother, a lover and a friend, hoping that other people feel good and happy listening to my songs. I chose to realize this first album quite simply, at home, recording with my mother, Isabelle Antena. We used only real instruments to make the sound as natural as possible. We also deliberately kept the sounds of guitar strings, breaths and floaty in-between beats in several songs (like Says the Rain), to convey a feeling of intimacy and nakedness."

"At my first concert I was so terrified, I didn't want to go on stage. My mother told me, 'If you imagine the people in the audience naked it'll help you relax.' To which I replied, 'I'd rather be naked in front of them than sing in front of them. It would be less terrifying!' And that's how the album title was found."
